What is a Body Opponent Bag? It's a freestanding punching bag in the form of a lifesize mannequin. No need to hang from the ceiling or to hassle with a stand, simply fill the base with water or sand and you are good to go. When you are through with your workout, roll it back into the corner or tuck it away in a closet.

Should you want to take the bag to spar with a buddy or bring it along on vacation, just empty out the water or sand and refill when you get to your destination. It is something a heavy bag cannot offer.

Although there are several models of the bag such as the Sparring BOB (BOB Regular) and Bobby Bully, the child size BOB, the XL version is my favorite and is the one I workout with. The main reason is that it has a longer torso and includes the groin area so there's more striking surface area for body shot training as well as kicks.

Along with practicing your kicks, strategic target points, chokes and punches, you can use it for weapons training and self defense techniques too. One reason it is so versatile is there are seven height adjustments from 60 inches to 78 inches tall. I am short so that is a fantastic feature for me.

Weighing in at approximately 270 pounds, the bag is stable and will not slide or wobble. You can focus on giving your workout all you have, instead of worrying that it is going to move around.

We have never had a complaint on BOB, in the past 5 years I have been selling him. The base is sturdy and he holds up to the rigors of powerful kicks.

The life-like features make him good for target practice. We have even had some people practice weapons on BOB.

Training

Some martial artist practice their chokes on BOB. They have also shown it takes more precision to attack BOB XL than the heavy bag. BOB does not give though like the heavy bag, which will make for some stronger muscles.
